Its a little late for accuracy, as by now any mention of 'Airport Extreme' almost exclusively refers to the new Extreme-n, and I and others are quite lost and abandoned. Any mention of Extreme in this post will refer to the older, saucer airport, with 802.11b/g, with or without modem, with or without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The Apple Airport Extreme Gigabyte (AAEG) works beautifully with the PS3. You can either just run the PS3's built in wifi (I recommend channel 6 on the AAEG), or you can set up a 5GHZ network. I use a Netgear 5GHZ wireless ethernet bridge to allow my PS3 to run on the 5GHZ frequency, which in turn wirelessly connects to the AAEG.

I noticed that if I set the Airport Extreme base to work with 802.11n compatible with a, my macbook works very well but PS3 obviously doesn't recognise the base! Instead, if I set the Airport Extreme base to 802.11n compatible with b/g, both Mac and PS3 see the base but cannot connect to internet!
